HOW CAN I PREPARE FOR A RETREAT?

Registered Participants will receive a pre-departure mail closer to the Retreat date. This will contain information on what might be good to bring etc depending on the specific locations and weather conditions.

It is possible to attend the Retreat if you have to arrive later or depart earlier than the scheduled dates. The Retreat Price will still need to be made in full.  Please inform us directly if there is a change to your arrival/departure dates.

I HAVE NO EXPERIENCE IN YOGA, CAN I JOIN A RETREAT?

Yes! We've had absolute beginners through to yoga teachers attend our retreats. All classes are modified to suit individual levels. IMMERSIONS

HOW CAN I PREPARE FOR AN IMMERSION?

These courses have a considerable number of hours of yoga each day. A regular practice allows for a smooth transition into this routine.

TEACHER TRAININGS

HOW CAN I PREPARE FOR A TEACHER TRAINING?

A regular yoga practice is advised as this is an intensive program with considerable number of hours of yoga each day. A minimum of 1 year yoga practice is required for these courses. Have some doubts or hesitations about this? Have a chat with us and get an immediate response on this front.

A pre-departure mail will be sent out prior to your training date. This includes information specific to your course & recommendations on how to best prepare for your upcoming training.

All topics will be covered from scratch, step by step. The best preparation on your end is to best organise yourself in order to arrive with an open body, mind and heart. A regular, balanced yoga practice leading up to the training will ease and condition you for the program however participants should note that this is an intensive training over an extended period of time. You will be dedicating a lot of time and energy into your body and mind daily so don't over-do yourself prior to getting here. A great way to keep a balanced practice is through self-practice, where you guide your own pace.

Dedicate some time to observing yourself on the mat, what are your strengths and weaknesses. This can be a useful base for conversation and focus during your training program.

WHICH BOOKS DO YOU RECOMMEND?

If you would like to do preparatory study, we recommend that you choose between one of the classical texts of yoga that we will be working through during the training :  Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and the Bhagavad Gita.

During the TT we will issue out recommended reading material for each of the topics covered should you like to study an individual area of interest further after the program.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A RESIDENTIAL & NON-RESIDENTIAL TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAM?

All ROY Teacher Training Programs follow the same course structure and syllabus. Read more about ROY's 24 day teacher training course

There are two options to train with us - Non-Residential & Residential programs.

ROY is available to help with the selection process, provide recommendations or the link students up if anyone is looking for a room/housemate. If this is your preference, email us to request for an accommodation list which includes nearby guesthouses for various budgets and available discounts for ROY students.

In the Residential TT program,  accommodation & daily breakfast is added into the package.  Everyone lives together as a community during the teacher training course. Get in touch if you would prefer Single Occupancy stay during your training program.
